Having just last weekend dragged my frail, CFS, virus, etc. riddled body to my 7th or 8th Bon Jovi concert since 1989 (I’ve lost count!!), and as I’m actually listening to a live stream of their last concert in Brisbane right now (last in their Because We Can world tour), I thought I’d share a few songs that I love and that lift my spirits, but that you may not have heard of.
Now if you’re not a BJ fan, they might not be your cup of tea, but even so, check out the first 2 at least. They are great songs with lyrics that lift my spirit every time!
7 Bon Jovi Songs You May Not Know That’ll Lift Your Spirits
Welcome To Wherever You Are – Has got me through some very hard times and I still enjoy it. Helps me accept where I’m at and not to curse it so much!
Bells of Freedom – Uplifting! From the tolling of the bells that begin the song, this one just takes me on a journey of … freedom and hope! And don’t we need some of that at times. Getting a sense of freedom from music is one reason I love it so much, especially when I’m stuck in bed with a body that doesn’t allow me much physical freedom!!
Army of One – Off the new album – What About Now. It’s a good “fighter”, don’t give up song I reckon. “I’m an army of one. I’m a soldier”.
Just Older – From the “Crush” album. It’s a good one to listen to when you’re feeling a little down about the years creeping by
Amen – Another new one from the What About Now album. Not sure why it uplifts me, but it does. I find it peaceful and calming.
We Weren’t Born To Follow – From their last album The Circle. You may know this one, but it didn’t get much publicity here in Australia – or not enough. I love all their pump-up anthem songs!
What About Now – from the new album by the same name. Another motivating, pump-up song that builds up! I love these type of songs. They inspire me!!
It took me more to get to the concert this year than it ever has. I was so ill the day before that I nearly cancelled, but I had a friend going with me who had never been, and who needed my assistance. I now thank her for giving me a reason to “just do it”. It took a lot of preparing, pacing, and stepping through the fear of what may come the next day (and week), but I don’t regret it one bit.
I sat in that stadium and absorbed the atmosphere in a way I never had before. I was so incredibly present to the beauty of 50,000 voices rising as one to sing together, sponteously and voluntarily. It gave me a sense of connection and connectedness that is rare in this life. I’ve always loved live concerts for this reason. 50,000 voices singing the same words together in joy and love and celebration. Not in protest. Not because they HAVE to. Because they WANT to. People of many, many different backgrounds, united, if only for a few minutes at a time. It gives me further hope in the possibility of world peace!! Utopian? Maybe. But I’ll always be an optimist.
And if nothing else Bon Jovi sing about optimism and positivity – It’s My Life, Have A Nice Day, We Weren’t Born To Follow, the list goes on. So today, I celebrate Bon Jovi and the lyrics written mostly by Jon Bon Jovi that have lifted my spirits and heart for 30 years.
I hope some of these songs lift your spirits too. And if you want some suggestions of other songs – more well-known ones, but maybe not to you – please drop me a line or send me a tweet (@GetUpNGoGuru) and I’ll give you plenty of suggestions.
Thanks for endulging me. Hope you got something too. (P.S Will put in the links to YouTube when the stream finishes. In the meantime just Google/YouTube the songs)
Love ya
Keep Smiling
