Yesterday I threw it over to YOU to tell me what you’re struggling with most.
I’ve received some generous responses in the comments section and on Twitter (that I’m also hoping to add to the comment section) of yesterday’s Day 16 blog “What Are You Most Struggling With Right Now”?
Today, I’m once again throwing it over to you.
But this time I’m flipping the question.
I want to know what you’re doing WELL in managing you CFS / ME / Fibro.
What is something you once struggled with that you now manage really well?
What Are You NOT Struggling With?
What Are You Doing Well That’s Working In Your CFS / ME Management?
These are the 3 questions I’d love you to answer in the comments section or over on this Facebook thread.
It seems I get the most response on Twitter, but ideally it’d be great if people could reply in the comments or Facebook as it keeps all the replies together and allows people to interact with each others’ comments more.
But I get that some people prefer Twitter, so I will attempt to compile the Twitter answers and put them into the comments too (with the Tweeter’s approval of course!).
But if you could save me some time and energy by replying below or on FB, that’d be awesome. 🙂
I really want to know what you have become masters at in a CFS / ME management sense.
Are you really good at pacing yourself?
Are you really good at listening to your body?
Are you a master at turning your frown up-side-down and looking at the positive side of life?
Are you awesome at adapting to your circumstances and still embracing your passions?
I want to hear the good news stories here in order to inspire others.
And we ALL have stuff we’re doing well. We ALL do well at managing certain aspects of our CFS / ME better than others?
Tell us all what they are.
Ideally I don’t want this to be about plugging certain treatments, but if you are finding certain tools like yoga, Pilates, breathing exercises or some general management tools like that are working for you, please share!
Today’s Action Step
Tell us in the comments section or on this Facebook thread what IS working for you.
What is one thing (or more!) you used to struggle with but you have now become a master at it (or at least do it pretty darn well!)? with regard to managing CFS /ME?
So many others can benefit from this info, so share away! 🙂
I’ll share what’s working for me in another post coming soon. In fact I’ve written a long post on 101 Ways I Manage CFS / ME, which I’ll share with you very soon.
apopo tae noa ki (Until Tomorrow in Maori)
Keep Smiling 🙂

I guess after a hard fought battle I am accepting the new me and finding it so much easier to listen to my body especially when I need to rest; years of logging, listing and recording means now I can pick up on signs (or tells) that the power is draining before I get that sudden urge and need to be horizontal. My biggest one is my voice the tone changes and now even my Mum can tell by the ‘Hello’ if I’m ok or not, so it’s harder to disguise my bad days.
I realised during May 12th, when I wrote about first being ill, that I rarely compare myself to the ‘old’ me and that person is no longer my goal. I’ve adapted my goals to be more realistic and more importantly, attainable, the feeling of success is much more valuable to me than the constant striving for an unreachable perfection!
I’ve recently discovered Yoga Nidra, a form of guided sleep yoga and once you do it a few times it’s really great for deep relaxation, and for making that feeling you go-to when needed. I use videos on you tube, lie down listen and follow the voice. It has made me more aware of holding tension, when pain flares. It’s like my muscles freeze to restrict free movement which would lead to more pain; Now I clench and release, almost like by allowing yourself to feel the pain it lessens its impact.

Sorry about the delayed reply Sibh. Thanks for such a detailed response to this question.
Accepting the post/present CFS / ME you is a challenge, when comparing yourself to the ‘old’ you, but when we do accept our present life and learn to make the most of it, I think it takes so much strain off our bodies as well as our minds. I found I definitely started to heal more once I stopped resisting that I had CFS/ME & that my whole life had changed as a consequence.
I’ve adapted so much over the years. Sometimes I still over-reach (like with this 31 day post attempt!), but I usually manage things much better than I did in the beginning. Congrats on getting to that stage yourself.
I actually use Yoga Nidra too. I learned it in my yoga class, where we do it at the end of each session. I don’t clench & release anymore – just focus on the muscles & let them relax one by one. I forget how much I actually use it as a relaxation tool as it’s become so much part of my life. Funny how that happens. In my 101 Ways I Manage CFS / ME post, I often forgot things that have just become a way of life for me now. I forget I didn’t do them when I was 18!!
Thanks again for your great contributions. I really appreciate them.
Keep Smiling
