I’ve missed a couple of #SelfCareSundays – an initiative started by Kate Love here if you want to join in – so I thought I’d make my comeback by sharing some of the videos I made during my 30 Day #SelfLoveAffair Challenge.
It was really just an experiment for me to see what would come up for me when I focussed on “cultivating a love affair with myself” over a 30 day period – and journalling it regularly on YouTube.
I managed to record and post 20 videos in 30 days.
Some are really short, most are about 5 minutes and one is 36 minutes long. They are not award-winning videography, but they were never meant to be.
They are just me pondering what it is to love myself/yourself, and sometimes me suggesting ways you can practice.
It’s not like we ever “get there” to the destination of “loving myself wholly and completely” – or I don’t think we do. I believe it’s a continuous journey.
So here, on this Self Care Sunday, are the first 3 videos I posted on YouTube on my 30 Day Challenge – all on my first day!! 🙂
1. 30 Day #SelfLoveAffair Challenge – Day 1 – Self Talk – Video Journal #1
The first thing that came up for me was how unexpectedly hesitant I was to start recording my video journal and actually post them. All sorts of issues re how I look, what the background was, what the video quality was etc etc came up.
Also in this first video I discuss the challenges of positive self talk and how I realise how much I do the opposite!
2. #SelfLoveAffair 30 Day Challenge – Day 1a – Taking Compliments & Acknowledgement – #2
This video looks at the issue of being able to accept compliments and acknowledge ourselves. Our society often trains us to bat away compliments, so retraining ourselves to accept them can be challenging – but necessary I think!
3. 30 Day #SelfLoveAffair Challenge – Day 1c – Not An Easy Gig – Video Journal #3
My final short video of my 1st day of the 30 Day Self Love Affair Challenge wasn’t exactly high glam, as I was about to put my head on the pillow at the end of the day, but I felt inclined to acknowledge that I was already finding the going tough in the self love affair stakes.
In the next few weeks I’ll share a few more videos in each post so you can see how my 30 day journey went.
If you’re impatient, please just go to my YouTube channel here and you can look them all up. At the end of each title I say what number it is if you want to go in order!
These are no means award-winning video, but hopefully you’ll get something out of them. And if you do, please share it with us all below or tweet me @GetUpNGoGuru or FB me at Facebook.com/GetUpandGoGuru.
Keep Smiling my friends and take special care of yourself this week

PS. The Australian Cricket Team just won the International Cricket World Cup at the MCG. Soaking up the joy of the players and all involved is definitely self care for me!!!! Living vicariously through others 😀

Love the idea of videoing your journey – great way to work through self-consciousness!

Thanks Kate. It certainly WAS a great way to work through self-consciousness. My plan is to schedule posts with a few videos in them each week – although that plan went astray the last 2 weeks!! Too many projects and running out of energy. Also I had a break over Easter and my daughter was on school holidays, so …
