In my last post I invited you to “cultivate a love affair with yourself”.
I’ve been doing it for a few days now and it’s not easy to maintain. But I guess that’s why so many of us find it easier to stick to old habits of not liking ourselves rather than creating new habits of loving ourselves! π
I’ve decided to create a hashtag for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest (and any other platforms that use hashtags), put a list of questions here for people to answer, and suggest some actions to take as part of your new #SelfLoveRevolution.
I’ll be using both the hashtags #SelfLoveRevolution& #SelfLoveAffair, among others you will see below.
For myself I’ve set a 30 Day #SelfLoveAffair Challenge. I’d love you to join me in the 30 Day Challenge – or make it a 365 Day Challenge if you dare – or just do a shorter version. Any love towards yourself is boosting your love reserves and forwarding the #SelfLoveRevolution.
#SelfLoveAffair #SelfLoveRevolution – Cultivating A Love Affair With Yourself – Questions
Here are 10 questions for you to answer as regularly as you wish – every day or just every now and then.
To answer the questions, you can either put in the question first, then the answer, or just the answer (eg: A4 – flowers in my garden), then add the hashtag #SelfLoveAffair, #SelfLoveRevolution, or both.
1. What love song are you going to sing to YOU today?
(eg. Today I choose “All Of Me” by John Legend, but instead of thinking of singing the lyrics to anotherΒ person, I am singing it to my inner self. I’ve been practising this one for about a year on and off. It’s a great self-love tool)
2. What are you choosing to love in yourself today?
No judgement. Nothing is Good. Nothing is Bad. It just is. And you love it unconditionally – or that’s what we’re cultivating anyway! π
3. What do you forgive yourself for today?
For more on this topic, check out this blog post.
4. What are you grateful for about yourself today?
I’m up to day 409 of my #365Gratefuls #Spoonie project, so for inspiration check out my Instagram account (set up especially for the project), and also have a read of my recent blog #365Gratefuls – I Did It!!
5. What special things are you going to do to nurture your spirit today? How will you nurture yourself today?
For ideas on how to nurture yourself, check out my 2 previous posts on the topic – here and here.
6. What self-love affirmation will you repeat today (& print & put on your wall)?
We love photos linked to tweets, so please tweet your #SelfLoveAffirmations, Pin them, Instagram them or Facebook them.
7. What terms of endearments are you going to call yourself today?
(eg gorgeous, darling, sweetheart, hot stuff, babe, sexy …)
8. Name 3 things you love about your body/personality/you
For example, “I love my smile, my sense of humour & my left hand fingernails (they grow longer & nicer)”
9. What song are you going to play that lifts your spirit & sends love your way?
To give you some ideas – and particularly if you’re somewhat of an 80s chick – check out my post on 25 Songs To Lift Your Spirits.
10. What’s your #SelfLoveQuote of the day?
#SelfLoveActions
1. Smile into the mirror and say “I love you [your name]” ~ tell us on Twitter etc when you’ve done this
2. Record yourself speaking to yourself like you would speak to someone you adore. Then play it 10 times a day to yourself.
3. Do a collage of words, quotes and sentences that lift your spirit. Print it and put in on your wall.
4. Pick a motivational/#selflovequote that speaks to you. Print it 5 times. Stick it in 5 places around your home. Commit to LIVING the message of this quote for the next 7 days and tell us what comes of that – via Twitter, FB, Instagram, or if you’re feeling game YouTube.
#SelfLoveRevolutionInAction
How do you share with the rest of the #SelfLoveRevolution what you’re up to and what breakthroughs and breakdowns you’re having?
Let me count the ways …
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest – Hashtag #SelfLoveAffair and/or #SelfLoveRevolution and answer a question above (eg A5: I’ll take a hot bath & go for a walk)
Answer a question, then say “I tag @….” (eg. A10: “The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows” – Buddha. I tag @GetUpAndGoGuru” If you have room, put in the URL of this post so people know what the questions are.
YouTube – This is a step up, but if you’re game let’s do it!!
Record a short clip about your #SelfLoveJourney #SelfLoveAffair #SelfLoveRevolution on YouTube. Answer a question above. Do one of the #SelfLoveActions above and tell us about it. Get creative!
Write a blog post about your journey & share it with us! I’ll definitely link to it as much as humanly possible!
THEN SHARE!!! π
Tell us your video is there via Twitter, FB, Instagram, Pinterest or wherever you can use the hashtag #SelfLoveRevolution, #SelfLoveAffair or any of the hashtags I’ve used in this post.
I will be following all of the hashtags above, and in a month’s time I will compile a blog post of all the answers to the questions, all the video links and every other appropriate and relevant message telling about your #SelfLoveJourney.
Let’s do this my friends!
It’s not easy. I’ve already come up against my un-self-loving demons and my annoying technological glitches (who knew a new iPhone could fill up with content so fast & who the heck knows how to get it onto a PC before deleting it??!! I’m in the process of Googling that right now π
Join me in the 30 Day #SelfLoveAffair, or if 30 days seems a bit daunting, why not try 7 days and go from there?!
Please let me know via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest if you’re joining in. I’ve created a shared board on Pinterest for #SelfLoveRevolution Inspiring Quotes, so look out for it & then tweet me @GetUpNGoGuru to ask permission to post (or comment on the board with your email address)
Hang in their #SelfLovers. This #SelfLoveRevolution is like any revolution. It takes times, commitment and YOU! And it also takes you to spread the word … so share, share, share alike π
For my part, I’ll be putting my videos up regularly on YouTube despite my tech hitches. I will be stepping through my perfectionism and publishing videos that have ugly background, messy hair, strange lighting … whatever it takes to keep showing you my #SelfLoveJourney over the next 30 Days of my 30 Day Challenge.
Keep Smiling my friends

Hi Louise,
I’m so happy you found your way over my post for Fall In-Love w/ Yourself February – it’s the 4th year I’ve facilitated this series and it’s such an honor to host such wonderful guest authors.
I’ve decided to open for submissions for 2016 now (submissions will be accepted until 11/30/15) to allow contributors the ease and peace of writing and submitting as works best for them. I’m seeking ways to continue this series with as much ease and peace on all sides as possible. Please check out the submissions page and consider joining in: http://www.katelove.cc/fall-in-love/submission-guidelines/4-0-submissions/
I live w/ Fibromyaliga and exquisitely aware of the value self care holds for those of us living with chronic illness. It’s exciting to see someone else join in – the more we love ourselves the more we love our world – it’s a really beautiful way to ‘be’ in this world.
This past Sunday I began a new series on my personal blog called Self Care Sundays (hashtag #SelfCareSundays). My goal is to create a more consistent self care lifestyle through the accountability and support of blogging about it and hosting links to other peoples #SelfCareSundays posts as well.
Each week there will be a post – large, small, or just an image – as well as a linky tool for you to put a link to your own #SelfCareSundays post if you choose to join in. Please do consider joining in on Sundays!
Again, thank you for your visit and supportive comment.
Love,
Kate

A very late reply Kate. I was low on time when I read and approved your comments, then thought I’d come back to it … so I am FINALLY!
I’m so thrilled to find someone else embracing the concept of self care and self love. I mean, it’s not exactly new by any means, but I think it can sometimes become one of those “ho hum, here they go again” topics, as opposed to something we all really need to do on daily basis. It’s one of those things that’s so simple in theory and so difficult in practice. I truly think if we all loved ourselves at the deepest level, there would be a lot more peace in the world and a lot more happiness.
Dealing with chronic illness means we need to be that little bit more aware of self care. I wrote a blog about 18 months ago about the fact that I was so angry with my body for “failing me” yet again that I had not been looking after myself in the ways I knew I should be. I had effectively declared war on myself because I was so darn angry and frustrated. Yet, eventually I was able to see that and turn things around. It’s such a rollercoaster this chronic illness life, isn’t it?
As you know by now I’m joining in #SelfCareSundays, and I’m also thinking of how I could contribute to Fall In Love w/ Yourself February next year. Thanks for inviting me to submit.
Take care & Keep Smiling
Love
Louise
